US Homeland Security Secretary Makes Gulf Tour

UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, received on Wednesday U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Charles Johnson, and his accompanying delegation.

Also present was Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed and the U.S. official reviewed the overall relations of cooperation and friendship between the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) and the United States, especially in the field of strategic security cooperation and ways to boost peace and security on regional and international levels.

The meeting also covered security and political changes in the Arab region and the Middle East.

Mr. Johnson commended the level of cooperation between the two countries, which he said contributes to achieving the objectives of the two sides and the two friendly peoples in security, stability and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, Major General Khamis Matar AI Mazeina, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police and a number of senior officials.

Michael H. Corbin, Ambassador of the U.S.A. to the U.A.E., was also present.

Earlier this week, Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received in Doha on 02 June 2014 the US Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and his accompanying delegation on the sidelines of the 70th General Assembly of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) which was held in Qatar this year.

They reviewed ways to bolster bilateral relations, and discussed issues of mutual concern.

A day earlier, Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, received at his office in Jeddah US Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson and the accompanying delegation (photo).
During the meeting, they also discussed issues of common interest.
