Qatar Defense Minister Concludes Visit to IDEF 2017

Qatar’s Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khaled bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah (photo) paid a visit to the International Defense Industry Exhibition (IDEF), held in Istanbul, Turkey this past week.

The Qatari Minister was briefed on the latest innovations in military and defense technologies showcased by the specialized companies, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

Hosted by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey and under the management and responsibility of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, IDEF 2017, 13th International Defense Industry Fair, organized by TÜYAP Fairs and Exhibitions Organizations Inc. took place between May 9-12, 2017 at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul.

IDEF 2017 hosted 818 participant companies and their representatives, 135 delegations and 600 delegation members active in the defense field from 74 countries and 2 international organizations.

In addition, 2 Heads of State, 30 Ministers, 6 Chiefs of General Staff, 16 Deputy Ministers, 5 Deputy Chiefs of Staff, 10 Force Commanders and 15 Undersecretaries and many civil and military procurement authorities attended the Fair.

The Turkish authorities allocated meeting offices to meet the delegations and participants from national international defense industry institutions during the fair.

Within the scope of IDEF 2017 Fair, the unique defense products acting as the most important indicator of the level attained by the Turkish defense industry were showcased at Tüyap Fair and Congress Center, while maritime components were exhibited at the Büyükçekmece Port.
