Lebanese President, National Defense and Interior Ministers Conclude Official Visit to Oman

HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs, met Wednesday at Al Alam Palace with Major General Michel Mansi, Minister of National Defence of the Lebanese Republic.

During the meeting, they reviewed the good fraternal bilateral relations linking the Sultanate of Oman and the Lebanese Republic, in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual interest and areas of existing military cooperation between the two countries' defense ministries and ways to enhance them to serve mutual interests.

Meanwhile, Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister of Interior, also met Wednesday at Al Alam Palace with Brigadier Ahmed Al-Hajjar, Minister of Interior of the Lebanese Republic, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

During the meeting, they discussed areas of cooperation and coordination between the Ministries of Interior in the Sultanate of Oman and the Lebanese Republic, and ways to strengthen and develop them to achieve mutual interests. The two ministers affirmed the importance of intensifying efforts for coordination and cooperation with the aim of elevating joint work.

Both meetings took place within the framework of the official visit of President General Joseph Aoun of the Lebanese Republic, to the Sultanate of Oman.

President General Joseph Aoun of the Lebanese Republic, and his accompanying delegation left the Sultanate of Oman Wednesday after an official two-day visit.

HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs, was at the forefront of the farewell wishers to the guest upon his departure from the Royal Airport, wishing the Lebanese President a safe return to his country.

During his visit, President General Joseph Aoun of the Lebanese Republic was accompanied by an official delegation comprising Youssef Raggi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Major General Michel Mansi, Minister of National Defence, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, Minister of Interior, Nizar Hani, Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Rakan Nasser El-Din, Minister of Public Health and Brigadier General André Rahal, Advisor to the President.

President General Joseph Aoun sent a cable of thanks to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik upon leaving the Sultanate. He expressed his sincere appreciation to His Majesty the Sultan for the warm welcome and hospitality.

The Lebanese President underscored the important of the visit, which represented a valuable opportunity to strengthen the bonds of fraternity and the deep-rooted historical friendship between the two countries, and explored ways to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields to serve the interests of the two countries’ peoples.

The Lebanese President described the meetings and talks he held with His Majesty the Sultan as constructive and fruitful, emphasizing His Majesty’s keenness to support the fraternal relations between the two countries and enhance joint cooperation.
