General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, held a meeting with General João Ernesto dos Santos, Minister of National Defense and Veterans of Angola, and his accompanying delegation during their visit to Egypt.
The meeting was preceded by an official welcoming ceremony at the Ministry of Defense, during which military bands played the national anthems of both nations.
The discussions focused on the latest developments in both regional and international arenas, and their impact on security and stability within the African continent amid current challenges. The two sides also explored avenues to enhance military cooperation between Egypt and Angola across a wide range of sectors, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces reassured Egypt’s pride in the strong and longstanding relationship between the Egyptian Armed Forces and its counterparts in Africa. He commended the ongoing military cooperation in all defense-related fields.
In turn, Minister of National Defense and Veterans of Angola, expressed his appreciation for the deep and enduring ties between the two friendly nations. He also praised Egypt’s significant contributions to supporting all the African causes.
At the end of the meeting, both sides signed a bilateral defense cooperation agreement, which includes provisions for military technology exchange and further strengthening of defense ties.
The signing ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, as well as senior officers from both the Egyptian and Angolan Armed Forces.
In another development, General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, witnessed last week the execution of the main phase of the operational command post exercise for the Central Military Zone.
This exercise, which lasted for several days, is part of the combat training plan for the formations and units of the Armed Forces. The exercise was also attended by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, as well as the Chiefs of the main branches and a number of senior military officers.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, attended one of the stages of the exercise, which included a review of the decisions and combined arms rehearsal (CAR) implemented by various military branches. He also discussed with several commanders and officers the tasks carried out and introduced several tactical surprise scenarios to ensure their ability to make the correct decisions based on the evolving situation.
Moreover, the Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, inspected the combat training system of one of the formations within the Second Field Army. This visit aimed to ensure the effective execution of training operations for the soldiers, reflecting the General Command’s commitment to field oversight of military formations and units.
During the inspection, he toured various specialized training fields and engaged with several soldiers regarding their execution of missions according to their respective specialties. He praised the high level of training, and the combat readiness demonstrated, which equips them to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
General Abdel Mageed Saqr emphasized the Armed Forces General Command’s dedication to continually developing combat training plans and programs based on scientifically studied principles, contributing to the enhancement of soldier preparation and qualification. He underscored that the individual soldier is the true asset of the Armed Forces and its fundamental pillar in defending the nation and safeguarding its sanctities.
