As part of the 19th session of the Algerian-Tunisian Joint Commission, responsible for monitoring and overseeing the implementation of military cooperation, held in Algeria from 21-25 December 2025, Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of National Defense, received Lieutenant General Mohamed El-Ghoul, Chief of Staff of the Tunisian Land Army, accompanied by a high-level military delegation, on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at the Algerian Ministry of National Defense Headquarters.

On this occasion, the two sides held bilateral discussions on areas of common interest, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, in his capacity as Chief of the Algerian delegation to the Algerian-Tunisian Joint Commission, and the Director of External Relations and Cooperation of the Ministry of National Defense, along with the members of the accompanying Tunisian delegation.

Both sides also commended the distinguished level and quality of cooperation between the armed forces of the two brotherly countries, the Algerian Ministry of National Defense reported.

Furthermore, the Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of National Defense praised the positive results achieved in the area of military cooperation, emphasizing the importance of ongoing and intensive coordination between the two countries to address various security challenges, particularly in the area of securing their shared borders, in order to mitigate the risks associated with terrorism and cross-border crime, illegal immigration, smuggling in all its forms, and drug trafficking.
