Tellumat Launches Video/Data Link for UAV Operations

Tellumat (Pty) Ltd, a South African electronics and engineering company, has recently launched its latest generation video/data-link radio product, the DL-5000.
The DL-5000 is optimised for modern UAV applications with high video bandwidth (up to 16 Mbps) supporting high-definition video streaming, in a lightweight and rugged enclosure (3kg).
“The DL-5000 mass saving means users can add a few extra litres of fuel instead, with the benefit of longer missions without compromising video bandwidth or range. This makes the DL-5000 very attractive to the market”, said Shareef Hoosain, Data Link Product Manager at Tellumat.
The DL-5000 is an Internet Protocol (IP) based radio so remote operations or networked range extension beyond line of sight is possible. “The market ideal for extended range operations is through satellite communication. However, the reality is that satellites are not easily accessible to users without significant rental costs for bandwidth” says Hoosain. The network-ready DL-5000 radio allows users to cover large areas beyond line of sight, provided a ground-based communication network infrastructure exists.
Tellumat also provides complete point-to-point link solutions, including antenna combinations and antenna trackers to meet specific operational range and mobility requirements.
