ITT Corp. released its new tactical communications product, the Spearhead HF Radio.

The announcement was made by ITT Electronic Systems Value Center leaders at the bi-annual Defense & Security Equipment International (DSEi) show being held at ExCel London (13-16 September 2011).

The Spearhead HF Radio is a multiband HF/VHF transceiver that offers long range (beyond line of site) communications and secure interoperability with users of SINCGARS export versions such as the RT-1702 and the Spearhead VHF radio. The new system is a software defined radio with features such as advanced data waveforms, digital voice, Global Positioning System, Electronic Counter-Counter Measures, encryption and HF – VHF cross band repeater capabilities.

The Spearhead HF receiver/transmitter is available as a 20W manpack, or as the core of a 150-watt vehicular or base station system. Engineered for reliable operation in extremely harsh situations, the radio is a rugged unit that meets the demanding environmental specifications of Military Standards.
