In 2008, Aero Vodochody, the largest aerospace manufacturer in the Czech Republic, made its highest profit in the last six years, USD 23.6 million. The revenue of Aero was approximately USD 250 million.
The revenues in 2008 were mainly influenced by the aerostructures programs, especially the production and sale of the Sikorsky helicopters: more than 50 S-76C++ helicopters and one S-76D prototype were delivered to Sikorsky Aircraft. The companies also together celebrated a jubilee delivery of the 250th helicopter produced by Aero. As for the other aerostructures programs, the Alenia Aeronautica C-27J Program, producing the whole center wing box, the F/A-18 Program (gun bay door for Boeing), subassemblies of Airbus aircraft for EADS or Embraer door subassemblies for Latecoere played the major part in the revenue generation. The Military Program contributed 12 % of the revenue. This was generated mainly through our unique position in supporting the Czech Air Force in its successful L-159 operation as well as continued support of Aero military aircraft in service worldwide.
