The Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America discussed strengthening military coordination and defence cooperation during the 21st meeting of the Bahrain-US Joint Military Committee, held Friday at the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF).
Lieutenant General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, Minister of Defence Affairs, chaired the Bahraini side, while Michael P. DiMino IV, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Near East and Central Asia, chaired the US side.
The two sides discussed items on the committee’s agenda aimed at further strengthening military coordination and defence cooperation between the two countries.
They also reviewed Bahrain-US relations and means to further develop cooperation, particularly in the military domain, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides signed the minutes of the 21st Bahrain-US Joint Military Committee meeting.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Adviser for Financial and Technical Affairs at the BDF General Command; Stephanie L. Hallett, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Bahrain; and senior BDF officers.
Earlier, Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, received Thursday Michael Dimino IV, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Near East and Central Asia, in the presence of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Jaber Al Khalifa, Deputy National Security Advisor.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad commended the strong relations and close strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America, as well as their continued development across various domains.
His Highness emphasised the importance of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) in strengthening cooperation and integration between the two countries in support of mutual interests and regional security, stability and prosperity.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed topics of common interest and discussed means to further strengthen cooperation and coordination between Bahrain and the United States. They also exchanged views on regional issues and developments and efforts to enhance security and stability in the region.
In another development, Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), received Friday a number of officers who recently graduated from military colleges and institutes to take the legal oath.
The Chief of Staff conveyed to the graduates the greetings of Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander in Chief of the BDF. He congratulated them on their graduation and commended their efforts and achievements during their studies.
In line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister, the Chief of Staff urged the graduates to apply the knowledge and field experience they had acquired in their duties and to continue developing their knowledge and skills in the various specialisations required by BDF branches and units.
The Chief of Staff highlighted the BDF’s continued efforts to provide its personnel with educational opportunities to pursue advanced military and academic studies and wished the graduates continued success in their careers.
