Chief of Staff of the Kuwait Army Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraian and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for the Middle East and Central Asia Michael Dimino co-chaired the annual meeting of the Kuwait-US Joint Military Committee at the Pentagon.
The General Staff said on Saturday that the meeting included several workshops in which teams from both sides reviewed joint cooperation in maintenance and training.
The meeting also saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on strategic partnership with the Maryland National Guard, which the General Staff said would further strengthen military cooperation and coordination between the two countries.
Al-Shuraian was accompanied by a delegation of senior officers and commanders from the Kuwaiti Army. The General Staff said the meeting underlined the longstanding defense partnership between Kuwait and the United States, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
In another development, Kuwait’s National Guard Undersecretary Lt General Hamad Al-Barjas visited last week the new extension of Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Camp to review preparations and facilities for the planned relocation of some National Guard units to the camp.
The National Guard said Al-Barjas inspected the various facilities and installations and was briefed on the stages of preparations and the relocation plan, stressing the importance of completing all requirements according to the highest standards of readiness and efficiency.
He praised the efforts made in the expansion project, which was carried out in accordance with the latest construction and engineering systems to provide an appropriate and integrated environment for the units operating at the camp to carry out their assigned duties and missions.
