The governor of Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) Eng. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Ohali inaugurated BAE Systems Arabian Industries, a qualitative step aimed at supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and enhancing the localization of domestic military spending.
The inauguration took place during an official ceremony held Tuesday at the company’s new headquarters in the capital, Riyadh, in the presence of several officials and leaders from the defense industries sector.
“The inauguration of BAE Systems Arabian Industries marks a major step forward in enhancing local content and building national capabilities in the military industries sector,” Al-Ohali said.
He pointed out that the integration of national and global expertise within this unified entity reflects the confidence of major companies in the attractive investment environment provided by the authority in cooperation with its partners in both the public and private sectors.
He further affirmed that this step contributes directly to knowledge transfer and the strengthening of national competencies, in line with the localization goals of exceeding 50% of military spending by 2030, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Eng. Al-Ohali confirmed the authority’s support for such qualitative initiatives that enhance local content and open broad prospects for both national and international companies to contribute to building a robust and sustainable military-industrial system. He stated that the integrated work carried out by the authority with its partners from the public and private sectors, as well as its efforts to expand cooperation with major global and local companies and to transfer and localize advanced technologies, aims to empower companies to participate in the localization journey.
This strategic launch of BAE Systems Arabian Industries comes as a result of the merger of two well-known Saudi companies: BAE Systems Saudi Development and Training Company (SDT), specialized in capability building and development, and Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company (SMSCMC), a supply chain management and technical services firm.
