President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated on Monday the fourth edition of the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX 2025) at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre (EIEC) in Cairo, marking the start of one of the region’s largest tri-service defence events.

EDEX is the only defence and security exhibition that covers both Africa and the Middle East.According to its official platform, EDEX is the largest defence show in Africa, reflecting Egypt’s growing role as a regional hub for defence technology and military innovation.

For his part, Egypt’s Minister of Defense and Military Production Lieutenant General Abdel-Magid Saqr, welcomed on Monday the participants to the Egypt Defence expo (EDEX 2025), saying: “It is my pleasure to begin by welcoming you all to Egypt, the symbol of strength and peace, the land of security and safety…”.

In his speech, at the inauguration of EDEX 2025, the Minister of Defense emphasized that the exhibition has become a global platform for countries and companies producing weapons systems and defense systems from around the world to present the latest advancements in technology.

He added that this edition comes amidst the rapid transformations and complex conflicts witnessed in our region and the world, making constant readiness to confront risks and threats an imperative that cannot be neglected, Egypt Today reported.

“The world has come to realize that the repeated warnings from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi about the region sliding into a full-blown war that would drag the world into an uncertain future were insightful, wise, and sincere warnings about the consequences of succumbing to the logic and arrogance of power, rather than the logic of a just and comprehensive peace,” the Minister of Defense said.

He emphasized that Egypt’s possession of various elements of power is an investment in ‘genuine peace’. He further noted that “strong nations respect their sovereignty and protect their borders, and the Egyptian Armed Forces have always been, and will remain, a wise and prudent force that protects, not threatens; that builds and develops.”

He also thanked President El-Sisi for his continued support and constant commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the Armed Forces “to complete the modernization process and raise combat efficiency, and to strengthening cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries to protect regional and international peace and security, and to extend bridges of cooperation through joint exercises and the exchange of experiences with many countries of the world.”

Held under the patronage of His Excellency, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces, the 4th edition of EDEX is taking place from 1-4 December 2025 at Egypt International Exhibition Centre, New Cairo.

Organised by the Egyptian Armament Authority of the Ministry of Defence, and fully supported by the Egyptian Armed Forces, EDEX is a biennial event that showcases the latest technologies and solutions in the defence and security industries.

Since its launch in December 2018, EDEX has expanded in size and influence, becoming a regular event on the international defence calendar and a key destination for companies seeking to strengthen their presence in Africa and the Middle East.

The 2025 edition is expected to cement Egypt’s position as a hub for military cooperation and defence industry development.
