The Saudi Airports Development Forum will take place at the Jeddah Hilton Hotel on 02-03 November 2016 and will showcase the latest technologies and services which will contribute to the growth of Saudi Airports.

According to the current statistics, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia handled over 80 million passengers in 2015 and the traffic is expected to grow every year in the future.

The ongoing and future international and domestic airports expansion projects in the Kingdom include Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Madinah, Abah, Taif, Hail, Jazan as well as other airports.

Saudi Arabia will begin privatizing its airports and related services in the first quarter of 2016.

The development projects are worth over US$20bn for developing and upgrading airports by 2020 with private companies to contribute the major share of the required investments.

“The privatization program comes in line with the kingdom's plan to improve the productive efficiency of airport systems and ease the financial burden on (the) state budget,” Sulaiman al-Hamdan, Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation said in a recent statement.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabian Airlines, the Middle East's second largest carrier by revenue and passenger numbers, is accelerating multi-billion expansions of its fleet and enhancement of its operating systems in a strategy designed to prepare the airline for privatization. A range of new aircraft have been procured and delivered in the last two years.
