In partnership with Emirates Airline, Airbus held its newest “Little Engineer” workshops at the Emirates Engineering Center. The two-day workshop welcomed 100 students, introducing them to the world of aviation.

Emphasizing on the importance of robotics in the aerospace industry, Airbus’s Little Engineer A380 workshop saw students aged between 13-15 years old focusing on identifying various aircraft parts, enhancing understanding of both the manufacturing and assembling processes of an aircraft while learning programming skills in the process. Students then assemble an A380 model; program it so it is able to man oeuvre on the tarmac, ready for take-off.

Airbus Little Engineer workshop are designed to channel students’ potential, encouraging them to use science, technology, and mathematics in an exciting and engaging, team work approach.

In line with Airbus vision of sustainable aviation, Airbus Little Engineer workshops aim at preparing students in the region to meet the exponential growth in the aviation sector and contribute in creating a pipeline of local talent for the industry.

“Airbus Little Engineer is more than a series of robotic-inspired workshops, it is a commitment to the youth and the aviation industry,” said Fouad Attar, Managing Director, Airbus Middle East.

“With this initiative, we want to give the young talent of the region an exciting glimpse to what could go into a career within the aviation industry and ultimately inspire them to become the future aerospace engineers, contributing to sustaining the future of aviation,” he added.

Adel Al Redha, EVP and Chief Operations Officer of Emirates, said: “We are pleased to be a part of this workshop in partnership with Airbus as it exposes young minds to the aviation industry and stimulates their interest in the aviation and aircraft maintenance business. Initiatives such as The Little Engineer workshops will no doubt have a great impact in attracting youth to the field of engineering and will support the high demand in the technical field.”
