MARSS, a specialist defence technology company based in the UK, recently hosted a delegation from the Gulf States for a live demonstration of its cutting-edge RADiRguard family of products.
The event, which took place in the South of France, provided a comprehensive overview of MARSS’s advanced surveillance and security solutions.
The RADiRguard family is a suite of intelligent perimeter protection and surveillance systems designed to safeguard critical assets, compounds, military bases and private properties. Utilising advanced radar and optical sensors coupled with artificial intelligence, RADiRguard offers autonomous detection, tracking and classification of potential threats across various ranges and scenarios.
The demonstration was attended by high-ranking officials from the Gulf States, including representatives from the military. The MARSS team was led by Rob Balloch, Chief Growth Officer, and VP of Science, Dr. Alberto Baldacci.
The event began with an introduction to the RADiRguard family, including:
- RADiRguard SR (Short Range): Designed for perimeter protection with a 250-metre detection range.
- RADiRguard CITY: Optimised for urban environment, a discreet and versatile solution for autonomous surveillance, traffic monitoring, and access control, effective at 30-60 metres.
MARSS representatives emphasised the systems’ flexibility in terms of power options and communication methods, showcasing their adaptability to various demanding operational environments.
The group then moved to a RADiRguard CITY installation a short distance away. This multifunctional system combines surveillance capabilities with intelligent lighting features.
The modular nature of the RADiRguard CITY system was highlighted, with visiting delegates shown how additional features, such as facial or number plate recognition, could be integrated based on specific user requirements.
Finally, the group moved to a temporary command and control room where the delegation received a hands-on demonstration of the NiDAR unified command and control platform, which serves as the central nervous system for the RADiRguard family. The Gulf State officials observed how NiDAR integrates data from multiple sensors to create a comprehensive tactical picture, enabling rapid threat assessment and response.

“This event not only showcased our technology, but also highlighted the importance of innovative, AI-driven solutions in modern security landscapes,” he added.
In addition to the existing products, MARSS is already working to expand the RADiRguard family, including devices with greater ranges, tailored for applications such as border perimeter security.
The visiting delegation was then escorted to a live installation of the RADiRguard SR system. Installed along a service road, the demonstration allowed officials to observe the system’s real-time detection and tracking capabilities of both vehicles and pedestrians.
Of particular interest was the RADiRguard SR's self-contained design, where a single pole houses not only the sensor array but also supports solar panels and contains the necessary electronics, batteries and charging systems to work completely independent of the power grid.
