Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan (photo), UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, witnessed at the Ministry’s headquarters, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Interior and Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi, SCAD, regarding statistical co-operation and the exchange of statistical data.

The MoU, which was signed by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Ahmed Mohammed bin Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of SCAD, UAE national news agency WAM reported.

As per the deal, both parties seek to strengthen the current ties of strategic partnership with government institutions, and contribute to supporting joint national institutional work.

The MoU would ensure both parties make combined efforts, exchange expertise and achieve the best performance to support and develop statistical work, with full co-operation of local and federal government authorities to conduct statistical reviews and develop a comprehensive statistical system.

It also aims to strengthen the ties of institutional co-operation between both parties in the field of statistical work in a methodical way to achieve integrated statistical efforts in the emirate, while placing a methodical and organized framework to exchange and re-publish data, including electronic systems and timetables, as well as procedures for providing data between the concerned parties.

It also aims to strengthen the commitment on agreed methodologies and scales to elevate the quality of data, achieve the most efficient use of administrative records, minimize the reliance on scans to lessen effort and achieve proper utilization of resources and develop statistical abilities and qualifications.

The MoU requires the exchange of data and information, and the development of skills and knowledge of workers in different statistical fields in government and joint authorities, as well as the creation of a workforce with exceptional skills that produces high quality data, enabling the government to take decisions with regard to plans and policies.
