Organized by the Police College, representing the Ministry of Interior, the fourth annual INTERA (International Association of Police Academies) conference opened Monday in Abu Dhabi.
The three-day event is being held for the first time in the UAE under the theme “Training of Officers in the Field of Policing That Needs Expertise”.
A distinguished cohort of academics and specialized researchers will be taking part in the conference, alongside members of the INTERPA. The event aims to exchange expertise, share the best practices, and examine the best international standards in the field of scientific and academic research, police education and training across security and police academies.
Colonel Saif Al Ketbi (photo), Police College Director, said that training police officers at all levels and ranks was one of the most important contemporary issues of concern on the international arena.
He also noted that members of INTERPA had agreed on tackling these themes during the fourth annual conference. More than 20 speakers from different countries will debate key issues.
Colonel Al Ketbi stressed the importance of training in boosting police staff members’ potential; and increasing their mental, behavioral and cognitive capabilities and skills commensurate with the different situations and circumstances they may face.
“The conference is the perfect opportunity to avail of the different experts’ experiences in the field of police training; examine the most important future training methodologies for officers, and participate in discussions,” he added.
