The Lebanese Army Commander-in-Chief General Rodolph Haykal received in his office in Yarzeh the Senior Advisor to the UK Ministry of Defence for the Middle East, Admiral Edward Ahlgren, with an accompanying delegation, in the presence of British Ambassador Hamish Cowell and Defense Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Charles Smith.

Discussions focused on the general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries’ armies.

He also received the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, with discussions likewise covering the general situation in Lebanon and the region, the Lebanese Army said in a statement.

Earlier this week, the Lebanese Army Commander-in-Chief General Rodolph Haykal inspected the headquarters of the 10th Infantry Brigade in Kfarshakhna - Zgharta, where he received a briefing on the operational status in the brigade’s sector. He also met with officers and soldiers, commending their efforts and professionalism in carrying out missions, particularly in remote areas and under harsh weather conditions.

General Haykal affirmed that Lebanon’s security is safeguarded thanks to the soldiers’ professionalism, resilience, determination, and unwavering commitment to duty despite the current difficult circumstances. He emphasized that the military institution remains a unifying force for all Lebanese and continues to earn the trust of friend nations due to the devotion of its personnel.

The Lebanese Army Commander-in-Chief also condemned the Israeli enemy’s continued aggression against civilians, including the targeting of homes and civilian infrastructure - most recently in Msayleh - South Lebanon. He stressed that these attacks have led to the loss of innocent lives, caused extensive material damage, and constitute an ongoing threat to Lebanon, as well as a flagrant violation of international law and the cessation of hostilities agreement.

He also inspected several brigade units in Beddawi and Terbol, where he reviewed the security measures in place to maintain stability within the area of responsibility.

Addressing the soldiers, he said: “We view every part of our country with a deep sense of responsibility, because we wear the uniform of honor, sacrifice, and loyalty. The military institution remains the guarantor of national unity, despite the rumors and false accusations. Its success depends on the performance of its units across all regions. Each of you plays a crucial role in ensuring the Army’s continued strength, as it carries out critical and essential missions both within the country and along its borders. There is no room for weakness or complacency.”

He concluded by emphasizing that the Lebanese Army embodies a pillar of security for the people and will never hesitate to make sacrifices to safeguard Lebanon’s future. (Source & Photo © Lebanese Army)
