Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti on Tuesday received an Omani military delegation led by Brigadier General Staff Salem bin Saeed bin Surour, Deputy Commander of the Sultan’s Special Force and Senior Staff Officer (photo), at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and military cooperation between the two brotherly countries and to further develop them across areas of mutual interest.

Major General Huneiti underscored the importance of enhancing partnership and maintaining continuous coordination in various fields to serve the shared interests of both nations.

He further stressed that military cooperation between the two armies forms a key pillar in supporting regional security and stability, according to Petra news agency.

For his part, the Omani Officer expressed appreciation for the significant role of the Jordan Armed Forces, particularly in training, capacity-building, and the exchange of expertise, emphasizing the importance of furthering joint cooperation between the two sides.

Major General Yousef Huneiti also visited on Tuesday the Eastern Military Region Command, where he was received by the region’s Commander.

In the presence of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Training, Major General Huneiti listened to a briefing by the region’s commander on its duties and responsibilities, as well as its key operational, training, and logistical programs. The briefing also covered progress in implementing plans aimed at enhancing the readiness of personnel to improve the performance of formations and units within the region.

The Army Chief also inspected the Royal Field Air Defense Group/5, one of the region’s support formations, and was briefed on the group’s operations, including the main systems, weapons, and equipment it employs.

Major General Huneiti reviewed one of the recently introduced air defense systems, aimed at strengthening the air defense network and keeping pace with developments in the operational environment, in line with the nature of emerging regional challenges. The new systems, he said, will enhance the region’s capacity to carry out its assigned missions efficiently and effectively.

He praised the efforts and dedication of the region’s personnel in protecting the country’s resources and borders, particularly through countering infiltration and smuggling attempts. He reaffirmed the General Command’s commitment to equipping all formations and units with the necessary weapons and technologies and to continuing the integration of modern technologies for the defense of the Kingdom’s borders.

At the end of the visit, which was attended by a number of senior military officers, Major General Huneiti signed the visitors’ logbook.
