Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti on Monday received US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper at the General Command headquarters of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF).
The discussion tackled ways to bolster military cooperation between JAF and the US military as well as current regional developments, security challenges, and joint efforts to enhance stability in the region.
Huneiti and the visiting delegation were also briefed on recent defense and security updates within the Jordan Armed Forces, as well as Jordan’s ongoing humanitarian efforts in the West Bank and Gaza, Petra news agency reported.
The Army Chief stressed the importance of Jordan’s strategic partnership with friendly forces, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening military cooperation and exchanging expertise to enhance operational readiness in addressing regional and global challenges.
For his part, Cooper noted Jordan’s pivotal role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in supporting regional stability, and expressed keenness to expand military cooperation to serve mutual interests.
The meeting was attended by a number of senior JAF officers and the US Military Attaché in Amman.
In another development, a Syrian delegation of the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, led by the Deputy Minister, called on the Royal Jordanian Air Force Command last Wednesday, where they were welcomed by its Commander and the Commander of the King Abdullah II Royal Special Forces.
The visit is in recognition of the Jordan Armed Forces’- Arab Army (JAF) efforts to put out fires that recently broke out in several Syrian regions, underlining joint cooperation and support for the Syrian brothers during crises.
The delegation commended the rapid response and competence of JAF personnel, stressing that their efforts had an impact in controlling the fires and containing their spread.
They also hailed the “distinguished and professional performance” of the pilots and personnel participating in humanitarian and relief missions.
For his part, the Royal Air Force Commander said these efforts were made upon the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander, and were a practical translation of the Arab Army’s role in providing humanitarian and relief support.
He said the JAF will remain a supporter of “our brothers and friends in facing crises and disasters.”
