L-3 WESCAM announced the launch of a high-definition (HD) color spotter sensor for its MXTM-10 electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) imaging system.
This additional capability has enabled L-3 WESCAM to be the first to market with a 10- inch stabilized turret complete with EO wide, EO narrow and daylight spotter camera offerings.
L-3 WESCAM recently received its first order for an MX-10 with the HD color spotter from the Stanislaus County Sheriff Department, which operates a Cessna 206 fixed-wing aircraft out of its Modesto, California headquarters.
Footage captured from the MX-10 spotter will be on display in L-3’s exhibit, Booth 600, at the 2015 Missions Summit Solution, which runs March 29 to 31 in Nashville, Tenn.
“We remain dedicated to continuous product evolution and are pleased to offer our MX-10 spotter, which is the latest in a series of product line updates brought to market over the past year,” said Paul Jennison, Vice President of Government Sales and Business Development for L-3 WESCAM.
“Adding our new HD spotter to an MX-10 configuration enables customers to achieve unsurpassed magnification as well as industry-leading target detection, recognition and identification ranges from a 10-inch system,” he added.
The MX-10 spotter is ideal for smaller UAV and airborne law enforcement mission profiles that are subject to operate with minimal Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) requirements.
The spotter and all other sensor offerings within the MX-10 system are fully compatible with L-3 WESCAM’s KineticTM technologies, a suite of powerful situational awareness and target detection capabilities.
The suite includes KineticTM ISR – a map-based sensor management package, KineticTM MTI – a Moving Target Indicator tool, and KineticTM Speed – a tool that indicates the speed at which a point of interest is moving on the ground or in the water.
