Nexter is taking part in the Forum Entreprises Défense (FED), a key event for players in the field of land equipment maintenance in operational condition (MCO-T), held at Satory (Yvelines, France) on 13 and 14 October 2021.

Nexter is exhibiting the products, services and skills of its Customer Services Department (DSC), as well as the latest innovations proposed by its Innovation and Digital Transformation Department (DITD) to meet the challenges of MCO-T.

Nexter is presenting its Operational Services Centre (COSS), a pillar of customer assistance, whose savoir-faire has been recognized by the French Army for ten years. This center ensures the complete processing of customer requests, the management of their logistical needs and responses to requests from maintenance personnel thanks to innovative solutions:

  • A Business Intelligence solution that enables real-time fleet management. Thanks to this tool, Nexter capitalizes on all the information collected to optimize the management of its activities and thus improve technical operational availability.
  • The Nexter Customer Portal. It collects and centralizes customer requests, enabling simplified and digitized management.
  • Predictive maintenance, implemented through the HUMS sensor system. A concrete example is presented on the engine oil circuit of the Leclerc tank. Carried out with CKP Engineering, this experimentation aims to optimize fleet management and help maintainers in their decision-making in the field.
  • Digitalization of maintenance operations. The digitization of training fleets and computer-assisted maintenance management (GMAO) optimize maintenance operations thanks to new computer software.
  • Tele-expertise. With the help of connected glasses, a Nexter expert located at the COSS can now assist an operator live in a maintenance task, wherever he is in the world.
  • The Leclerc Diagnostic Simulator (SDL). This updated version integrates the new characteristics of the equipment, following the renovation of the Leclerc tank. Maintenance personnel are trained to search for selected faults according to multiple scenarios.
  • Augmented maintenance documentation (AMD), a new training and maintenance assistance solution using augmented reality. Thanks to HoloLens glasses, a 3D model is superimposed on a real weapon system to help maintainers locate the elements of this system, and to allow them to access the associated technical documentation.

On its outdoor stand, Nexter is presenting innovative solutions, which illustrate the means implemented by the group to master new technologies. The MCO-T is highlighted in an Innovation container with several flagship products:

  • Additive manufacturing, which makes it possible to optimize the design of systems, to diversify sources of supply, and therefore to prevent certain obsolescence.
  • The Nexter digital twin (JUNNE). Based on a digital copy of a physical system, the JUNNE will make it possible to evaluate a system's capabilities, improve its maintenance, facilitate the integration of new technologies and strengthen collaboration with Nexter’s partners.
  • CTENIZA, a weapon system concealed inside a container. CTENIZA can accommodate multiple pieces of equipment such as a water cannon, an observation device or a remotely operated turret. The system can be carried on board a ship, or transported by plane, and can be networked to coordinate the protection of a single device (FOB, convoy, etc.).
  • BATCAM cameras, developed by OPTSYS, a subsidiary of the Nexter Group. They provide all-weather, day and night vision, and a degree of protection adapted to degraded environments and high-intensity combat. These cameras use artificial intelligence to enhance users’ detection capabilities.

Nexter, the leading French land defense company and third European player in the ammunition sector is part of the KNDS Group. The scope of its business also includes the supply of weapon systems and ammunition for air and naval forces. Nexter also provides systems and protection solutions in the field of homeland security. The group continues to apply its international development policy with several order intakes in 2020 intended for the export market.

In France, Nexter is fully committed to meeting the objectives of the SCORPION program, through the upgrade of the Leclerc tank and the development of the VBMR GRIFFON and EBRC JAGUAR vehicles within the temporary business venture between Nexter, Thales and Arquus, as well as the Lightweight VBMR SERVAL.

The group’s range of products also includes TITUS® and VBCI armored vehicles, CAESAR® and 105LG1 artillery systems, smart ammunition (BONUS), robots, many equipment, as well as customer service, support and revaluation.

KNDS’s 2020 turnover amounted to €2.4 billion.
