Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand signed Thursday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defense and security cooperation between the Government of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Defense, and the Government of Canada, represented by the Canadian Trade Commission.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release that the MoU was signed at the conclusion of Sheikh Jarrah’s meeting with Anand during his official visit to Ottawa, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The meeting reviewed the strong and longstanding relations between Kuwait and Canada, with both sides expressing their commitment to strengthening coordination at various levels and expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple fields.
The two sides stressed that continued cooperation reflects the strength of their distinguished relations and contributes to advancing their common interests, the ministry said. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments and exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, particularly developments in the region and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting security and stability.

In another development, Kuwait’s Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraiaan met with his French counterpart, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces General Fabien Mandon, to discuss defense cooperation between the two friendly countries and ways to strengthen and develop joint military cooperation in light of current developments.
The General Staff said in a statement Friday that Al-Shuraiaan and Mandon stressed the importance of enhancing coordination and cooperation between the Armed Forces of Kuwait and France.
The meeting also addressed a number of issues of common interest and efforts aimed at strengthening regional security and stability, the statement said. The meeting took place on the sidelines of Al-Shuraiaan’s official visit to France, where he earlier participated in the Aqaba Process meeting attended by heads of state, chiefs of staff, military experts and representatives of countries and international organizations.
Lastly, the Director of Joint Operations at the Kuwait Armed Forces Brigadier General Staff Salama Al-Shammari met Sunday with Brigadier General Omar Khan, Commander of Pakistan’s Kuwait mission, to discuss joint military coordination and ways to enhance cooperation in the mutual interests of the two friendly countries.
The meeting was held under the joint military defense protocol between Kuwait and Pakistan, the General Staff of the Kuwait Armed Forces said in a statement.
