UAE President, Amir of Qatar Receive Greek Minister of National Defence

His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met in his office at Lusail Palace on Wednesday morning with Minister of National Defense of the Hellenic Republic HE Nikolaos Georgios Dendias (photo).

During the meeting, they reviewed developments in the region and their repercussions on regional and international security and stability, in addition to discussing international efforts to contain tensions, reduce escalation, and promote diplomatic solutions.

They also discussed cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the Hellenic Republic, as well as ways to enhance them, particularly in the field of military and security cooperation, in order to strengthen the level of joint coordination between the two friendly countries, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

On his part, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani also met with the visiting Minister of National Defense of the Hellenic Republic.

During the meeting, they discussed relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them, especially in the field of defence. They also discussed developments in the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability, and ways to resolve all disputes by peaceful means.

Earlier, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received Tuesday His Excellency Nikos Dendias, Minister of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic.

The meeting addressed cooperation between the two countries and ways to strengthen ties, particularly in defence-related fields.

The two sides also discussed developments in the region amid ongoing military escalation and its implications for regional and international security and stability, in addition to the continued Iranian aggression targeting the UAE and other countries in the region, UAE national news agency WAM reported.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, also received Nikos Dendias, Minister of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the repercussions of Iran’s unprovoked, missile attacks targeting the UAE and several regional countries. They examined the impact of these actions on regional security and peace, their serious implications for international navigation, and the threat they pose to global energy supplies and the world economy.

The two Ministers also reviewed avenues of cooperation and joint action within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership binding the two countries.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the deep-rooted strategic ties between the UAE and Greece, noting the continuous growth and development witnessed across all sectors under the support and patronage of the leadership of both friendly nations.

The meeting was attended by Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, UAE’s Minister of State.
