Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), the national defense and security champion and a Public Investment Fund (PIF) company, welcomed last week King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar and his accompanying delegation, accompanied by Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb, during his visit to SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries, a subsidiary of SAMI, as part of his official visit to the Kingdom.

King of Malaysia and his accompanying delegation were received upon arrival by Chief Executive Officer of SAMI Eng. Thamer Al-Muhid, along with senior company officials.

During the visit, the King toured the company’s facilities and was briefed on its advanced capabilities in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), as well as its role in localizing the aerospace industries in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The briefing highlighted SAMI's efforts in strengthening the Kingdom’s defense industry ecosystem and supporting its growing position within the global aerospace sector.

The visit reflects the shared commitment of both sides to expanding cooperation in the aerospace industry.

On Thursday, His Majesty King of Malaysia has departed for Bahrain after completing a four-day state visit to Saudi Arabia, the first by a Malaysian monarch in over four decades.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is accompanying the King on the visit to Bahrain, The Star reported.

The visit marked the first state visit to Saudi Arabia by a Malaysian King since the late Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah’s official visit in 1984.

During the visit, Sultan Ibrahim was accorded a state welcoming ceremony at the Al-Yamamah Palace.

Saudi Arabia is Malaysia’s 14th largest trading partner, with total trade amounting to RM44.74bil (US$9.79 billion). (SAMI; The Star; Photo © SAMI)
