In execution of the instructions of Mr. Abdelmadjid Tabbouleh, President of the Republic of Algeria, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, ordered the deployment of two (2) patrols of Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets (4 aircraft) on a mission to support the Nigerien Army in countering this attempt to destabilize the brotherly nation of Niger.
This move aims to strengthen the strategic cooperation relations between Algeria and Niger across various fields, particularly the military domain, and follows the unfortunate events that recently occurred in the Nigerien capital, Niamey, in an attempt to destabilize the country, and in response to the request of the Nigerien authorities,
In this context, these fighter jets, accompanied by a refueling aircraft, landed on August 30, 2026, at Niamey Airport in Niger, the Algerian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
Once again, this operation reaffirms Algeria’s steadfast commitment and determination to continue its efforts to promote security and stability in the region, while reiterating its unwavering support for the State of Niger, its government and people, to overcome this sensitive trial.
On hand to receive them was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Mahamane Lamine Zeine, who on this occasion expressed his profound gratitude to Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, and to the Algerian people for this high-quality support.
