A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on establishing the Academy of International Security (AIS) at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) was signed recently.
The MoU was signed by Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadi Menhali, Director General of Police Operations on behalf of Abu Dhabi Police, and by Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology.
Also present were Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Mohammed Omran Al Shamsi, Chairman of HCT.
The MoU sets the framework of cooperation between the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, and the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research & Training (CERT) “the research and economic arm of HCT” to establish the academy.
The Academy will include five different Centers: the Forensic Science Center; the Organized Crime Center; the Security Flexibility Center; the Security Technology and Cybercrime Center; and the Security Policies and Strategies Center.
These Centers will provide training programs, along with the accredited continuous professional development programs, in addition to advisory services and research in the field of security. Planning is currently underway to set up more centers in the future to cover areas of community safety and traffic policies.
