His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Force and Prime Minister, received Thursday the Commander of US Naval Forces Central Command, Commander of the United States Fifth Fleet, and Commander of Combined Maritime Forces, Vice Admiral Charles B. Cooper II, at Riffa Palace.

His Royal Highness affirmed the depth of the longstanding strategic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America created through joint work and coordination at various levels, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted the importance of further developing relations in various fields, especially in the military and defence, to achieve the goals and aspirations of both countries and their peoples.

His Royal Highness commended the active role of the United States, and other allied countries, in preserving regional security and stability, noting the importance of continuing to consolidate international efforts in this regard.

During the meeting, several issues of common interest, and the latest regional and international developments, were reviewed.

The Minister of Cabinet Affairs, HE Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, also attended the meeting.

In another tragic development, the Kingdom of Bahrain has expressed its sincere condolences to the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, over the victims of the crash of a Royal Saudi Air Force fighter jet in the training area of the King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait, which led to the demise of the plane’s crew.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the sympathy and solidarity of Bahrain with Saudi Arabia following this great loss.

Earlier, the Official Spokesperson of the Saudi Ministry of Defense Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki, said in a statement: “At (14:28) on Wednesday (26 July 2023), a Royal Saudi Air Force F-15 SA fighter jet crashed during a training mission in King Khalid Airbase’s training area in (Khamis Mushait).”

“The accident resulted in the martyrdom of the aircrew, may Allah have mercy on them, and may He accept them as righteous martyrs. We ask Allah to grant their families and relatives patience and acceptance,” the statement added according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

“An investigation committee has commenced its proceedings to unfold the reasons behind this accident,” the statement concluded.
