The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA)  signed a MoU to offer training courses and grants to African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) member-states during 2010-2012.

GCAA, in cooperation with Academy of Technical Training (ATT) and the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS), will offer training for developing specialised human resources in the civil aviation field.

Pursuant to the MoU, the UAE will provide specialised scientific, technical and administrative training programs for Afcac member-states in order to keep them abreast of all developments witnessed by the ever-changing civil aviation industry. The MoU comes in line with the mutual strategic target of both organisations in supporting and developing civil aviation in the African continent.

"Among others, these courses will feature themes of safety management systems, airport economics, air transport industry, and airline business," said Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA.
