His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Tuesday Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Al-Hajjar and his accompanying delegation on Monday, on his official visit to Kuwait.
The meeting was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Director of the Amir’s Office Lt General (Ret.) Jamal Mohammad Al-Dhiab, Undersecretary of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Abdulaziz Meshal Mubarak Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs at the Amiri Diwan Mazen Issa Al-Issa.
His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also received Minister Al-Hajjar and his delegation, where both sides reviewed the strong bilateral relations between Kuwait and Lebanon and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation in various fields.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, Head of the Crown Prince’s Diwan Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and a number of senior officials, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
Separately, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received the Lebanese Minister and his delegation in the presence of Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, where both sides reviewed longstanding bilateral ties and ways to further strengthen cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and their peoples.
In another meeting, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef held talks with Minister Al-Hajjar on strengthening security cooperation and coordination between Kuwait and Lebanon.
According to a Ministry of Interior statement, the discussions focused on enhancing mechanisms of joint security cooperation, exchanging expertise, and continuing coordination between relevant authorities in both countries to support mutual interests and reinforce security and stability.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation frameworks, reflecting the depth of fraternal relations between Kuwait and Lebanon and contributing to regional stability. The meeting also reviewed several issues of common concern, in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wuhaib and senior security officials from both sides
On Sunday, Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities affirmed that Lebanon will not allow its territory to be used as a platform for activities that threaten the security of Kuwait or any Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member state, stressing that security cooperation between Lebanon and Kuwait continues to grow and serves as a model for joint Arab coordination.
Speaking at a press conference at the Lebanese Embassy in Kuwait during his official visit, Hajjar said Lebanese security agencies are working in close coordination with their Kuwaiti and Gulf counterparts to combat organized crime, terrorism and drug trafficking. He stressed that Lebanon would act promptly on any information provided by Kuwait regarding individuals suspected of involvement in criminal or illegal activities that could threaten the country’s security.
“If Kuwait provides us with information, requests or the names of individuals involved in activities that threaten its security, Lebanon is fully prepared to cooperate,” Hajjar said.
Earlier in the day, Hajjar toured Kuwait’s General Directorate of Nationality and Travel Documents and the Criminal Security Sector, where he praised the Ministry of Interior’s technological capabilities, operational efficiency and advanced security systems.
According to the Ministry, he was briefed on the evolution of the Kuwaiti passport, including the electronic passport equipped with a smart chip, as well as the latest technologies used in issuing travel documents in accordance with the highest international security standards.
During his visit to the Criminal Security Sector, discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, exchanging expertise and reviewing modern investigative systems and smart technologies used to combat crime.
The two sides also reviewed Kuwait’s strategy for combating drug trafficking and smuggling, emphasizing that intelligence-sharing and joint security operations have contributed to foiling several drug smuggling attempts and enhancing public safety.
