Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force ‘Lekhwiya’ HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who is also Chairman of the Security Committee, met with the Qatari Security Forces participating in securing the FIFA World Cup 2026, to be hosted jointly by the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.

Sheikh Khalifa emphasised the importance of leveraging security expertise to support the success of the tournament in a manner that reflects Qatar’s advanced international standing in securing major events, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

Meanwhile, Lekhwiya is hosting a trilateral joint urban search and rescue exercise, under the patronage of Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Specialised teams from Qatar, France, and Syria are taking part in the exercise, which is running from June 7 to June 12.

The teams are the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group, the France1 and France2 search and rescue teams, and the Syria Civil Defence.

The exercise features real-life scenario simulation, enabling the teams to test their capabilities in handling complex situations.

This aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise and strengthen joint coordination in carrying out international missions.
