His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem discussed on Tuesday ways to enhance cooperation between Jordan and the United States.
During the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty emphasised the importance of building on the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, in order to serve mutual interests and achieve stability in the region.
The King emphasised the importance of Jordan joining the Global Entry programme, which aims to expedite entry processing procedures to the United States for enrolled travellers who hold visas or permanent residence permits, noting that this reflects the depth of Jordan-US relations, Petra news agency reported.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Interior Minister Mazen Farraya, Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States Dina Kawar, US Ambassador to Jordan James Holtsnider, and the accompanying US delegation attended the meeting.
In another development, Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Huneiti, on Wednesday received Deputy Commander of Canadian Joint Operations Command, Maj. Gen. Timothy Arsenault and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting held the General Command headquarters of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), Huneiti, in the presence of the Canadian Ambassador to Amman and several senior JAF Officers, discussed aspects of joint military cooperation and coordination in various training and logistical fields, which contribute to developing the military capabilities of the both friendly countries’ Armed Forces.
Huneiti also emphasized the “deep-rooted” Jordanian-Canadian military relations, praising the existing level of cooperation and its role in exchanging expertise and raising level of readiness to confront shared challenges.
In turn, Arsenault commended the JAF’s efforts in maintaining regional security and stability, stressing the importance of strengthening joint military cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
