Qatar Amiri Guard Commander Lieutenant-General HE Staff Hazza bin Khalil Al Shahwani met with General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the London District and Commander of the Household Division Major-General James Bowder in London on Monday.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on topics of common interest and ways to enhance and develop them, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Military Attaché to the United Kingdom and several senior officers from both sides.
During the visit, the Amiri Guard Commander received a briefing on the operations and duties of the Royal Guards and observed a performance by the British Royal Guard Cavalry.
In another development, the State of Qatar is participating in the 93rd Interpol General Assembly, taking place in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco, from November 24 to 27, with the participation of representatives from law enforcement agencies in 196 countries.
The Ministry of Interior delegation is headed by Acting Director of the International Cooperation Department Major General Nasser Yousef Al Mal, and includes Assistant Director of the Public Relations Department Colonel Dr. Jabr Hamoud Jabr Al Nuaimi and several ministry officers, in addition to a delegation from the Public Prosecution headed by Head of the International Cooperation Prosecution Nawaf Abdullah Al Kuwari.
The meeting discusses a number of topics, including the development of global police databases, enhancing information sharing, combating organised crime, cybercrime, and terrorist financing, as well as discussing Interpol’s 2030 strategic roadmap.
Qatar’s participation in the Interpol meetings underscores its commitment to supporting and strengthening global security cooperation and reinforces its leading role in the organisation.
This role was highlighted by Colonel Ali Mohammed Al Ali’s election to the Executive Committee representing Asia in the 2024 Glasgow session, in addition to Qatar’s early preparations to host the 95th Interpol General Assembly in Doha in 2027.
