His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, visited Bahrain after completing a four-day state visit to Saudi Arabia, the first by a Malaysian monarch in over four decades. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin accompanied the King on the visit to Bahrain.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, received Friday His Majesty King Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar of Malaysia at Sakhir Palace during his state visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
At the outset, His Majesty the King held a meeting with His Majesty King Sultan Ibrahim, during which Their Majesties reviewed the close historical relations between Bahrain and Malaysia and discussed means to further strengthen bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both countries and peoples. Their Majesties emphasised shared commitment to continue expanding cooperation across various sectors and supporting joint efforts that promote mutual interests.
Following the meeting, an expanded session of talks was held in the presence of senior officials from both sides, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
The two leaders exchanged talks reflecting the longstanding ties between the two countries and their shared commitment to further develop these relations for the benefit of their peoples.
His Majesty the King and His Majesty the King of Malaysia then visited the Police Fort. Upon arrival, the convoy was received by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, accompanied by a mounted police escort.
The police band performed the national anthems of both countries, after which the guard of honour was presented to the two monarchs. The police band then gave a ceremonial display.
His Majesty King Hamad welcomed His Majesty the King of Malaysia to Bahrain, noting the strength of bilateral relations, particularly in the field of security cooperation.
His Majesty also expressed appreciation to the Minister of Interior for the Ministry’s continued development, and commended the dedication and professionalism of Bahrain’s security personnel.
His Majesty the King of Malaysia signed the visitors’ book, expressing his pleasure at the visit and his appreciation for the advanced level and professionalism demonstrated by the Ministry of Interior. He also extended his wishes for Bahrain’s continued progress and prosperity under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
A commemorative gift was then presented to His Majesty the King of Malaysia on this occasion.
Following this, HM the King of Bahrain and HM the King of Malaysia held talks, emphasising the strong relations and mutual commitment to develop them, and to advance cooperation and joint work in all areas that serve their shared interests.
Furthermore, HM the King bid farewell to HM King Sultan Ibrahim, commending the success of HM the Malaysian King’s state visit to Bahrain and the outcomes that will enhance the close ties between the two kingdoms, leading them towards greater growth and prosperity that benefits both peoples. His Majesty expressed thanks to HM King Sultan Ibrahim for his visit and wished his country and people continued progress and prosperity.
Meanwhile, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, hosted a luncheon honouring HM King Sultan Ibrahim, and his accompanying delegation. The luncheon was attended by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and head of Mission of Honour.
