As part of his visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan last week, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Interior, toured the defence complex, where he was received by the Pakistani Minister of Interior. He was briefed on advanced weapons, equipment and systems produced for defence and law enforcement.
Shaikh Rashid stressed the importance of modernising mechanisms and systems at Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior to meet evolving security challenges, praising the complex’s efficiency, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
The Minister and his delegation visited the Counter Terrorism Force Camp in Islamabad, where he was received by the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, the Camp Commander, and Senior Officers. He attended a display showcasing the Force’s efficiency and readiness, and toured the facilities and development projects. He underlined the importance of training and qualification plans for security personnel in all domains.
Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah also visited the National Police Academy, where he was briefed on scientific and training programmes aimed at preparing and qualifying security personnel. He highlighted the importance of cooperation and exchange of expertise between academic and security institutions to advance training and meet modern requirements.
At the Frontier Works Organisation, he discussed cooperation in civil emergency management, exchanging expertise and adopting best practices to enhance readiness, ensure public safety, and address challenges. Both sides also discussed issues of common interest.
The Minister visited the Anti-Narcotics Force to review efforts to exchange expertise and strengthen cooperation in combating drugs. He later toured the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park, where he reviewed Pakistan’s experience in drone manufacturing and national space projects that support local industries.
At the conclusion of his visit, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah expressed appreciation to the Pakistani Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, who saw him off, for the good organisation of the visit and the meetings held. The Pakistani minister expressed appreciation for Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah’s visit and commitment to continued cooperation between the two ministries of interior.
Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Pakistan and senior officials from the Ministry.
On 12 July 2025, Federal Interior Minister of Pakistan Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Manama, Bahrain, on a one-day official visit. At Bahrain International Airport, he was warmly welcomed by his Bahraini counterpart, Interior Minister General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
Upon his arrival at the Ministry of Interior Headquarters “Manama Fort”, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was presented a guard of honor, Pakistan Observer reported.
The Pakistani Minister held an important meeting with his Bahraini counterpart. Matters of mutual interest and security cooperation were discussed. Both sides emphasized the need to further enhance security cooperation.
During the meeting, discussions were also held on bilateral cooperation in the areas of counter-terrorism, anti-human trafficking, and anti-narcotics. Both sides also focused on strengthening security cooperation, addressing regional and global challenges, and making the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Security Committee more effective. Both sides appreciated the coordination and cooperation between Pakistan and Bahrain in security and other sectors.
The Bahraini Interior Minister stated that Minister Naqvi’s visit presents an opportunity to further solidify the security ties based on the strong relations between Bahrain and Pakistan. He added that Bahrain holds Pakistan-Bahrain security cooperation and coordination in high regard.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that enhancing cooperation between the Bahraini and Pakistani Interior Ministries in combating narcotics and human trafficking is the need of the hour. Moreover, he invited his Bahraini counterpart to visit Pakistan. He also recorded his remarks in the visitors’ book at the Bahraini Ministry of Interior.
Bahrain’s Deputy Interior Minister Major General Adel bin Khalifa bin Hamad, Chief of Public Security, senior military officers, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Bahrain Saqib Rauf, Deputy Head of Mission, and other senior diplomatic officials were also present on the occasion.
