Royal Jordanian has selected Thales, a leader in In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC), to install the advanced TopSeries Avant system and TopConnect cabin communications network on RJ’s upcoming 11 new Boeing 787 aircraft.
Entry into service is scheduled for the third quarter of 2014, a statement from Royal Jordanian said.
The TopSeries Avant system is distinguished for advanced technologies such as high definition video, solid state hard drives and faster processors. It is an award-winning solution known for its thin profile, light weight, modern design and local content storage capacity.
For connectivity, the Thales cabin communications network supports swift broadband capabilities for GSM, Wi-Fi internet and integrated in-flight entertainment applications. The TopConnect solution integrates OnAir as the communications service provider, further expanding the relationship between OnAir and Thales.
Amer Hadidi, Royal Jordanian president/CEO, said: “Introducing the B787 to the fleet is a major part of the RJ fleet modernization. They will significantly enable RJ to broaden its long-haul network; this has led RJ to invest in the entertainment services offered to passenger on board. Through our proud partnership with Thales, our passengers will experience an advanced IFE system along with superior comfort as they fly with Royal Jordanian.”
“Royal Jordanian is a long-time Thales customer and we are very pleased to be part of their Boeing 787 program. We anticipate that our new system and proven experience with Swift broadband connectivity will be well received by both the airline and their passengers,” said Alan Pellegrini, CEO for the Thales’ in-flight entertainment and connectivity business.
