Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, accompanied by Ministers, conducted an inspection tour of the new Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 (T2) project on Tuesday. The tour was held on the sidelines of a Cabinet meeting chaired by HH the Prime Minister at the new terminal building.
During the tour, HH the Prime Minister and the Ministers received a detailed briefing from Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, and Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, along with project officials. The briefing covered all aspects of the project and the latest developments across its three main bundles.
Bundle one covers construction, completion, furnishing and maintenance of the new passenger terminal. Bundle two covers service buildings, access roads to the new terminal and car parks. Bundle three covers aircraft stands, taxiways and service buildings associated with the new terminal.
HH the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the T2 project as one of Kuwait's major development projects, urging accelerated work and cooperation among government entities and the Ministry of Public Works to overcome implementation obstacles.
He said accelerating work is essential to completing and operating the project according to the approved timetable, noting that it represents a qualitative milestone in Kuwait's air transport sector, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported
HH the Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the efforts of Al-Salem Al-Sabah and Al-Mashaan. He also commended the efforts of Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, project officials and the concerned government entities involved in expediting implementation of the project.
These entities include the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, State Audit Bureau, Fatwa and Legislation Department, and Central Agency for Public Tenders.
In another development, Kuwait’s Public Authority for Civil Aviation said Tuesday its accession to Airports Council International (ACI) strengthens the country’s presence within the global airport network. The authority said the move supports its efforts to develop Kuwait International Airport by drawing on best practices and specialized expertise from the airport industry.
In a statement to KUNA, the authority said the step aligns with its strategy of broadening its presence in specialized international organizations and institutions and of bolstering international cooperation and partnerships. It said these efforts aim to develop Kuwait’s civil aviation sector and improve the quality of services provided to travelers.
Joining the Council gives the authority access to a network of international expertise, along with studies, data and operational benchmarks, it said. Membership also allows it to take part in committees, task forces and specialized events that address key challenges and future trends in the airport industry.
The authority said membership opens access to programs and initiatives offered by the council in areas including the passenger experience, service quality measurement, operational performance, safety, security, sustainability, digital transformation and cybersecurity.
It added that the Council offers training and professional development programs that contribute to building the competencies and capabilities of the national workforce in the civil aviation sector.
