Tunisia Hosts 41st Session of Arab Interior Ministers’ Council

Under the patronage of President of the Republic of Tunisia Kais Saied, Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Arab Ministers of Interior held in Tunis Monday the 41st session of the Arab Interior Ministers’ Council.

The Tunisian President received the Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Honorary President of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, along with other Arab Interior Ministers attending the Council’s 41st session. The meeting took place at the Carthage Presidential Palace.

The Tunisian President commended the Council’s efforts to coordinate security cooperation among Arab countries. He also expressed his best wishes for the success of the Arab Interior Ministers in their Council session, saying he hoped that the outcome of the meeting would fulfill the aspirations of Arab leaders and peoples.

The 41st session was attended by the Ministers of the Interior of the Arab countries, high-ranking security delegations, in addition to representatives of the League of Arab States, the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol), representatives of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and the Arab Police Sports Federation, UAE national news agency WAM reported.

The session discussed a number of topics related to enhancing joint Arab action and coordination in the security and police fields, UAE national news agency (WAM) added.

The Saudi delegation was headed by Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, who is the honorary president of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

During the meeting, it was announced that the Council granted the Naif Prize Medal for Arab Security (Excellent Grade) to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud in recognition of his great services to the security of the Arab community. The prize was accepted by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud.

The Saudi Interior Minister delivered a speech, conveying the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and their aspiration that the meeting will achieve what enhances common Arab security in the present and future.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud expressed his thanks to President Saied for sponsoring the council meeting. He thanked the brotherly Tunisian people for the warm reception and hospitality and expressed his thanks to Tunisian Minister of Interior Kamal Feki for his efforts in the success of this meeting.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud stressed that the meeting comes during painful humanitarian conditions and an unstable security situation experienced by our brothers in Palestine. The situation has caused the suffering of thousands of children, women, and the elderly. He emphasized the Council’s keenness since its inception on the security, stability, and development of the Arab individual.

At the end of his speech, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud expressed his thanks and appreciation to the security services for continuing their efforts in various circumstances to confront crimes of all kinds, performing their duties in preserving the lives of individuals, and combating crime, which contributes to achieving public security.

Earlier, the Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Honorary Chairman of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz met in the Tunisian capital of Tunis Sunday with the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Tunisia, Kamal Feki.

During the meeting, a number of topics of common interest were discussed, in addition to reviewing the agenda of the 41st session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.

The meeting was attended by a number of members of accompanying delegations of the Saudi and Tunisian Ministers, and representatives of Arab security and police organizations.
