King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) launched a super track (high-speedway) to back-up scientific research to combat novel Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), in collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Health, the Saudi Health Council and the Saudi Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Saudi CDC).
The objective of the project, is to consolidate and boost national efforts exerted aiming at limiting the spread of the pandemic and to provide research institutions, in the Kingdom, with back up to develop checkup and monitoring mechanisms to track down the causing virus, in an accurate and rapid way, as well as economically effective manner, in accordance with the best world class recognized scientific standards, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) is a scientific government institution that supports and enhances scientific applied research. It coordinates the activities of government institutions and scientific research centers in accordance with the requirements of the development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
KACST also cooperates with the relevant authorities in identifying national priorities and policies in technology and science so as to build a scientific and technological basis that serves development in agriculture, industry, mining, etc. It also aims at developing national competences and recruiting highly qualified specialists to help develop and control modern technology in order to serve development in the Kingdom.
KACST comprises all the requirements of scientific research, such as laboratories, means of communications, information sources and all necessary facilities.
