Abu Dhabi’s traffic Air Patrols have detected 100 traffic law violations on internal and external roads of the emirate from 12-30 September 2013, a statement said.

Major Mohsen Bakheit Al Menhali, Chief of the External Roads Traffic Section, said the violations included overtaking by using the shoulder of the road, not leaving sufficient distance, and not remaining in the traffic lane.

He pointed out that the Air Patrols have been equipped to monitor, take footage of violators and issue tickets against them. They can also identify areas of traffic congestion to help the traffic ground patrols arrive quickly to those particular locales to ensure seamless movement.

He added that the Air Patrols follow vehicles that do not have number plates, or those with fake numbers and then communicate with the traffic patrols to seize those vehicles.

Moreover, the Air Patrols conduct day and night-time patrols to monitor gathering places of reckless youth and take footage of them in order to detain those who violate the law.

This monitoring can also reduce the hazards that result from dangerous vehicle stunts and the traffic accidents that may lead to injuries or deaths, he said.
