UAE Discusses Defense Cooperation With Jordan, Mauritania

Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief-of- Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, met with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff of Jordan, Major General Pilot, Yousef Ahmed Al Hunaiti (photo), during his official visit to Jordan, where they reviewed the existing cooperation between the UAE and Jordan on issues related to military and defense affairs.

During the meeting held at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces, they also exchanged views on other issues of mutual concern, Emirates News Agency WAM reported.

Ahmed Ali Mohammed Al Baloushi, UAE Ambassador to Jordan, the UAE Military Attaché, the military delegation accompanying the Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces, and a number of top military officers in the Jordanian Armed Forces also attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Matar Salim Ali Al Dhaheri, Under-Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Defense, received at his office in Abu Dhabi Lieutenant-General Mohamed Cheikh Ould Mohamed Lemine, Mauritanian Army Chief-of-Staff, and his accompanying delegation, where they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the defense field.

The two sides also discussed bilateral relations and ways of strengthening them, exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, in addition to a number of issues of common concern.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior defense officials.
