At the Euronaval Exhibition (Paris, Le Bourget, 25-29 October 2010),  Sagem (Safran Group) won a contract from Italian shipyard Fincantieri SpA to deliver and integrate the Sigma 40 inertial navigation systems on the new Abu Dhabi class anti-submarine warfare (ASW) frigate.
Integrated in the ship's combat system, the Sigma 40 ring laser gyro inertial navigation system is a critical part of the ship. It significantly enhances the effectiveness of the ship's sensors, weapons and self-defense systems because of its high precision, reliability and sustained performance over time.

Furthermore, the Sigma 40 is known for its easy operation and maintenance, along with a compact design and hardware and software scalability.

This latest contract consolidates Sagem's position as the supplier of high-performance inertial navigation systems for the United Arab Emirates Navy's front-line warships. The Sigma 40 system was also chosen by the UAE for many other vessels.
