Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani concluded on Thursday a successful tour that included Australia and New Zealand, where the Prime Minister held meetings with the Prime Ministers and several Ministers of both countries, discussing the means to develop and enhance cooperation in various fields.
The meetings also addressed regional and international issues of common concern, particularly the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.
In Canberra, Qatar’s Prime Minister met separately with Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese and Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong.
On Tuesday, Qatar’s Prime Minister met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence of Australia Richard Marles.
During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations and the ways to support and enhance them at the defence level between the two countries, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
The Australian Minister for Defence expressed his country’s appreciation for the State of Qatar’s support of regional and international efforts to achieve security and stability in the Middle East.
In Wellington, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs met separately with Prime Minister of New Zealand Christopher Luxon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peters and Minister for Trade and Export Growth and Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs Todd McClay.
During the meetings, the relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them, economic cooperation, investment opportunities in the aviation, energy and investment sectors, cooperation in the fields of clean energy, technology research and international development, and enhancing trade exchange were reviewed.
The meetings also discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, especially the humanitarian situation in the Strip, and the State of Qatar’s mediation efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza.
In another development, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah met in Doha Wednesday Major-General Brigitte Onganoa, Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Gabon, during her visit to Qatar.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed topics of mutual interest and the ways to enhance and develop them.
On this occasion, an official reception ceremony was held for the Gabon minister and the accompanying delegation.
HE Staff Major General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohamed Al-Mannai, Commander of Qatar Amiri Air Forces, HE Staff Major-General Rashid bin Mohammed Al-Hajiri, Commander of Military Police Forces, and HE Staff Major General Jassim bin Ali Al-Attiyah, Commander of the Joint Special Forces, attended the meeting, in addition to a number of senior officials and officers from both sides.
