Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Defense and Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah called on the military leadership on Thursday to enhance cooperation and coordination among various sectors of the Kuwaiti army and to expedite the pace of work and accomplishments.

This came in a press statement from the Ministry of Defense during Sheikh Fahad’s chairing of a meeting attended by senior military leaders in the presence of the Chief of General Staff of the Army Lt General Bandar Al-Muzain, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The meeting discussed and reviewed several programs and plans prepared for various military sectors and identified the most important obstacles and difficulties hindering the implementation of some tasks assigned to these sectors.

Sheikh Fahad emphasized intensifying efforts of direct and periodic monitoring to ensure the smooth progress of work and exerting all efforts to equip and develop the capabilities of their units’ personnel according to the highest technical and technological standards in order to keep pace with the developments in the field of armament and military equipment.

Sheikh Fahad reiterated the ministry of defense's commitment to working according to the wise directives of HH the Amir and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as expressed in his speech during his visit to the ministry of defense on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan.

He pointed out that HH the Amir called for the consolidation of the principles of justice and neutrality, and for taking legal measures to safeguard public funds, conducting inspection tours of camps, attending to their infrastructure, intensifying joint training and exercises to raise the level of performance and readiness of Kuwaiti army personnel and ensuring support and encouragement for Kuwaiti cadres.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah emphasized the necessity of continuing efforts to achieve the goal of introducing vertical aviation into the Guard to provide support and assistance to state institutions in cooperation with the ministries of defense and interior and the civil defense force.

This came in a press statement issued by the Guard on Thursday following a visit by Sheikh Faisal accompanied by Deputy Guard Commander Major General Hashem Al-Rifai and Senior Commanders to Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Camp to review the expansion project of the camp currently underway.

During the visit, Sheikh Faisal was briefed on the project, which comes within the framework of developing facilities and buildings in all National Guard camps, emphasizing the great support from the leadership to provide all the needs of the units operating in the camp.

Sheikh Faisal Nawaf also visited the aircraft maintenance hangar and was briefed on its contents and inspected Caracal aircraft, which constitute the nucleus of the vertical aviation project in the National Guard. He was briefed on their capabilities and tasks in support, assistance, rescue and firefighting.

He also toured the observation tower, was briefed on the tasks of the technical team and its role and equipment and witnessed the take-off of one of the aircraft after communication with the tower, emphasizing the importance of continuing efforts to achieve the goal of introducing vertical aviation into the National Guard.

In another development, the Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior received, Sunday, Ambassadors from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain to deepen Gulf collaborative efforts.

The Ministry of Defense said Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah met with Saudi Ambassador Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khaled Al-Saud, UAE Ambassador Dr Matar Hamed Al-Neyadi, and Bahrain Ambassador Salah Ali Al-Malki at Bayan Palace.

During the meetings, the Minister and the Ambassadors discussed many topics including issues regarding ways to enrich relations between Gulf Cooperation countries, and other regional and global issues.
