The Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) announced the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with local and international companies during the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX 2024) which concluded in Aqaba, Jordan Thursday.
Rateb Abu Ragheb, JODDB’s Director of Sales and Business Strategy, stated that one of the key agreements was signed with DayCraft Systems, aimed at enhancing collaboration to invest in JODDB’s industrial zone. The partnership will establish a factory dedicated to defense equipment and anti-drone systems.
He emphasized that this investment is the result of JODDB’s extensive efforts to promote investment in Jordan’s defense sector. By targeting specific industries and sectors, JODDB has successfully fostered an industrial base and created an attractive investment environment, particularly within its special free industrial zone focused on defense and supporting industries.
Additionally, JODDB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Saudi company ERAF, focusing on cooperation in testing and evaluating materials, armor systems, and armored vehicles in accordance with global standards. JODDB’s testing center is accredited by the British Accreditation Service (UKAS), Petra news agency reported.
Abu Ragheb highlighted the high-quality testing and evaluation services provided by JODDB’s inspection center, which covers a wide range of fields including weapons, ammunition, armor systems, ground vehicles, electrical, and electronic systems. The center currently holds 463 globally accredited tests in these areas.
Meantime, the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB).
Under the agreement, JODDB provides training courses for the RJAF, aimed to qualify the Jordanian Air Force to participate in local and international competitions in the cybersecurity field.
The RJAF will also engage in specialized events in the technology sector locally and globally, in a bid to raise its personnel's awareness of various information technology areas.
Abu Ragheb, stated that the center has the “necessary” competencies and cyber environment to establish these partnerships and training courses, to raise the trainees’ efficiency and provide the adequate knowledge to keep pace with modern information technology in the cybersecurity domain.
In 2019, the center established JODDB Cyber Security Academy (Cyber Shield) to keep pace with the rapid development in this sector and provide Jordan's institutions with specialized courses in the cybersecurity and encryption fields, grasp digital evidence investigations, information network security, and spread awareness of technological uses in the Kingdom.
Furthermore, EDGE Group entity LAHAB, the UAE’s sole ammunition manufacturer, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), to certify LAHAB’s Ballistics Laboratory to NATO standards.
Under the MoU, LAHAB and the JODDB will identify opportunities to cooperate in the testing, evaluation, and assessing of small-calibre ammunition in accordance with internationally recognised NATO and military testing standards.
JODDB signed another Memorandum was signed with Jordan Water Company (Miyahuna), aiming to explore the application of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics to detect and address water leakages. The partnership also seeks to improve operational efficiency at Miyahuna through the enhancement of its technical systems.
Lastly, JODDB signed an agreement with BESOMI, a company specializing in research, development, and reverse engineering. The collaboration will focus on developing a platform for supplying electronic parts and advancing research and development in electronic systems.
