His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Armed Forces, received Monday General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Pakistan’s Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSCC).

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza conveyed the greetings of Dr. Arif Alvi, President of Pakistan, and Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, and their best wishes to the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people of further progress and prosperity, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

HM King Hamad welcomed General Mirza and asked him to convey his greetings and sincere wishes of continued progress and prosperity to the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. He affirmed close historical relations between Bahrain and Pakistan and growing development in various sectors.

HM the King praised bilateral cooperation in all fields, noting the role of such visits in strengthening relations, especially in the military and defence fields. He expressed his appreciation for the honorable stances of Pakistan and its cooperation in maintaining security and stability in the region. He also commended the role of the Pakistani community in the Kingdom of Bahrain and its contributions in the development process.

The meeting discussed topics of common interest and the latest regional and international developments.

HM King Hamad granted General Sahir Shamshad Mirza “the Order of Bahrain” in appreciation for his efforts in strengthening military and defence cooperation.

The Pakistani JCSCC Chairman expressed his gratitude to HM the King for honouring him and praised HM’s efforts in consolidating bilateral relations, especially in the defence and military aspects.

For his part, Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Commander-in-Chief, also met Monday with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Pakistan’s Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSCC), in the presence of Lieutenant General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, the Defence Minister, and Lieutenant-General Dheyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, the BDF Chief-of-Staff.

The Commander-in-Chief praised the Bahraini-Pakistani ties and reviewed ways to develop military cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Major-General Hasan Mohammed Saad, the General Command Court Director, Major-General Ghanim Ibrahim Al-Fadala, the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, Rear Admiral Mohammed Yousef Al-Assam, the Director of Military Cooperation, and senior BDF officers.

Lastly, His Highness General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s National Guard Commander, met Sunday General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Pakistan’s Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSCC) and his accompanying delegation.

On arrival, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was greeted by HH General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa. Then, the national anthems of both Bahrain and Pakistan were played.

HH General Shaikh Mohammed affirmed the importance of exchanging visits in enhancing and developing the military relations between Bahrain and Pakistan.

The meeting reviewed topics of common interest and reviewed the cooperation in all fields, especially the military one.

The National Guard Commander praised Pakistani army’s role in supporting regional and global security and the stability.

JCSCC Chairman was briefed on the role, strategies and duties carried out by the National Guard. He also paid a visit the National Guard museum for old weapons, where he wrote a note in the VIP Visitor Book. He expressed his gratitude to HH General Shaikh Mohammed for his interest in advancing the cooperation between the National Guard and the Pakistani army.
