Italy's government announced new chiefs for the Italian Air Force, Navy and Ministry of Defense Procurement office on Jan. 13.
Army Gen. Biagio Abrate will step down from his current post as head of the ministerial cabinet at the Ministry of Defense to become the new head of the Ministry's Procurement office, replacing Gen. Aldo Cinelli, a statement said.
Air Force deputy chief of staff Gen. Giuseppe Bernardis has been appointed Air Force chief of staff, replacing Gen. Daniele Tei. Tei will step down on Feb. 25.
Adm. Bruno Branciforte has been appointed the new chief of staff of the Navy, replacing Adm. Paolo La Rosa. La Rosa will step down on Feb. 23. Branciforte has previously served as head of Italian military intelligence
The mandate of the current Defense Chief of Staff Gen. Vincenzo Camporini will run until Aug. 3, 2010, the statement added.
