Etienne Galan Named Chief Executive Officer of Roxel SAS

Etienne Galan is appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Roxel SAS, Chairman of Roxel France and Member of the Board of Roxel (UK Rocket Motors) Ltd, from 1st September 2020. He replaces Jacques Desclaux, who is retiring.

After having worked for 6 years at DGA (French defense procurement agency) - aeronautical maintenance then industrial strategy - Etienne Galan joined Liebherr Aerospace in 1996 as Quality Director then Industrial Director.

In 2000, he joined Snecma (now Safran Aircraft Engines) where he participated in the implementation of new information systems, then he took on the responsibility of the Integrated Production Unit Forge.

In 2006, he became Deputy to the Industrial Director, in charge of strategy and continuous progress, before being appointed Director of the “Rotating Parts” of Industrial Excellence Centre in 2008. Etienne Galan was appointed Quality Director at the end of 2011 and Purchasing Director of Snecma in 2013.

In 2015, he was appointed Quality and Continuous Improvement Director of Safran, where he orchestrated the One Safran initiative, which aims to spread the culture of performance within the Group. Etienne Galan is a member of the Performance Review Institute Board of Directors since 2012, and Chairman of this board since 2018. He is also a member of the Board of Martin Baker France, JV between Safran and Martin Baker.

Born in 1965, Etienne Galan is an alumni engineer of Ecole Polytechnique and Sup ‘Aero in France.

Etienne Galan’s industrial expertise and managerial experience within Safran Group are the major assets that will allow Roxel to meet all of its commitments under the most favorable conditions. Etienne Galan will be able to strengthen the confidence of stakeholders and Roxel employees and pursue the actions that will be necessary to develop the activities of Roxel Group.

In total, MBDA offers a range of 45 missile systems and countermeasures products already in operational service and more than 15 others currently in development. MBDA is jointly owned by Airbus (37.5%), BAE Systems (37.5%), and Leonardo (25%).
