Total Active Manpower: 119,600, plus some 160,000 reserves. Paramilitary Forces: 24,000 Gendarmeries. The Gendarmerie is equipped with APCs, Helicopters and other heavy Weapons. Conscription: 18 months (Army only; Navy and Air Force are all volunteer services). Defence budget: US$2.67 billion (2006 est.).
