Arab states appeared to soften their 2002 peace plan on Monday when a top Qatari official said Israel and the Palestinians could trade land rather than conform exactly to their 1967 borders.

German defense firm Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) won a contract to supply more than 50 Leopard 2 tanks and about 20 PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers to Qatar, a defense source told Reuters on Thursday.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress March 26 of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Qatar for 500 Javelin Guided Missiles and associated equipment, parts, training and logistical support for an estimated cost of $122 million.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai will travel to Qatar within days to discuss peace negotiations with the Taliban, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said on Sunday, as efforts intensify to find a negotiated solution to the twelve year war.
